How Pixels to Inches Conversion Works

Pixels describe the digital dimensions of an image, while inches describe a physical size. DPI, or dots per inch, provides the relationship between the two.

Inches = Pixels ÷ DPI

Pixels = Inches × DPI

Example

If an image is 1920 pixels wide and the target resolution is 96 DPI:

1920 ÷ 96 = 20 inches

Therefore, a 1920-pixel dimension corresponds to 20 physical inches at 96 DPI.
